Learners are taught to identify emotions in themselves and others, and various preventative strategies to help self-regulate. This service also includes caregiver sessions to provide caregivers with strategies to support emotional regulation needs at home and other settings.
Skills taught can include:
- Discussing emotions as they relate to the “Zones of Regulation”
- Describing how anger impacts them
- Identifying and demonstrating various relaxation strategies
- Understanding the size of a problem and problem-solving strategies
- Identifying personal triggers and triggers in hypothetical scenarios
