Foundational Family Services

BACK

Foundational Family Services is a part of the new needs-based Ontario Autism Program (OAP) designed to provide families and caregivers a range of evidence-based services to support their child and youth’s learning and development. Foundational Family Services will be individualized and responsive to families’ changing needs over time.

All families registered in the OAP are eligible to receive these services and supports at no cost. Strides Toronto is pleased to be offering Foundational Family Services in a variety of formats including virtual, and in-person services. You can choose to access these services at any point based on your family’s needs. There are no limits to the number of times you can register for these services.

We offer a wide range of Foundational Family Services. Coaching is integrated into our various services to support parents and caregivers to implement the recommended strategies and transfer skills.

How to Register with The Ontario Autism Program

In this Lunch & Learn series, each 30-minute session introduces parents to the fundamentals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and practical tools to support their child’s development at home. This workshop focuses on how to use positive reinforcement to encourage helpful behaviours and support their child’s learning.

Do you need support reconciling your budget with the OAP, filling out funding forms or have other questions? We can help with these and more! Our Autism Outreach and Education team will meet with each registered family for a 60-minute consultation focused on support with visual aids, autism-related paperwork, or troubleshooting family goals.

This workshop will teach parents and caregivers about the changes that occur all through puberty, as well as how to support their youth during this time. Caregivers will learn to help youth understand and prepare for body changes associated with puberty, teach and encourage good hygiene, understand public/private places and behaviours, and how to handle issues surrounding consent.
